Sustainability | E-charging stations
Why you can ski on the Steinplatte with a clear conscience and why this will be possible by 2050.
Günther Aigner from Future Ski Sport has carried out detailed research for the Steinplatte-Winklmoosalm ski area with regard to temperature and snow measurement series, climate scenarios, technical snowmaking, flora and fauna and the energy transition:
REASONS FOR OPTIMISM
BECAUSE WE ALSO THINK ABOUT TOMORROW
Mobility
E-charging stations
For our guests who own an electric car or an e-bike, we are happy to offer the service of charging the vehicle at our e-charging stations in the parking lot or on the mountain.
We have the following stations:
Valley station Steinplatte Waidring (all year round for e-cars) and in summer (for e-bikes) at the mountain huts Möseralm, Stallenalm and at the panorama restaurant Kammerkör
There are 20 charging points with type 2 plugs (4m cable, no socket) in our Steinplatte Waidring parking lot, each with an output power of up to 11KW with 100% green electricity from renewable energy. All charging points are equipped with a calibrated meter (MID).
The charging process can be paid for and started at the charging terminal using a debit card, credit card (Visa, Mastercard), Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Please note that no charging cards from different providers are accepted, as we want to address ALL e-car drivers with payment via debit card, credit card as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, regardless of their own charging card
A receipt download is possible at any time and also afterwards with the code that is displayed on the charging terminal at the start of the charging process via: Charging Stations (echarging.info). The project was realized in cooperation with our partner Ecodrive!
Also brand new is the E-Car Sharing - Would you like to stay mobile on vacation and explore PillerseeTal by e-car? Then you can use the service of the local tourist office, municipality and Regiotech and explore the region with an e-car. The BMWi3 is available to our guests on loan for a small fee and can be reserved directly on site. The available times can be called up around the clock in the online calendar. The e-car is stationed in Fieberbrunn and can also be picked up here after making a reservation Informations
Regionality & employees
We are proud of the fact that all our employees come from the immediate vicinity. They come to and from work in company-owned vehicles in car pools (some of which are already electric).
Sustainable skiing pleasure: today and for generations to come
Sustainability and environmentally friendly practices play an important role for us in winter sports. It is
to preserve our breathtaking mountain world and protect it for future generations.
for future generations.
E-charging park and free ski bus service
A modern e-charging park offers environmentally conscious skiers the opportunity to charge their
charge their electric vehicles sustainably. Free ski buses reduce traffic and therefore the environmental
impact and promote sustainable travel for guests.
100% green electricity
The Steinplatte ski area uses 100% green electricity from renewable energy sources for all facilities and the technical snowmaking system as well as the e-charging park, resulting in low CO2 emissions.
Building close to nature
We are aware that we have to treat our natural environment with great care. Building close to nature is therefore very important to us. All our construction sites on the mountain are monitored and inspected by an independent ecological construction supervisor. In order to protect the environment as much as possible, we pay attention to short transport routes, well-organized materials management and nature-oriented construction management. We take regional suppliers into account in all our construction measures and thus try to strengthen the local economy.
Protection of flora and fauna
By means of careful pasture management by our local farmers with minimal mowing and fertilization
fertilization measures on the slopes in summer to protect the local flora and fauna.
Resource consumption and circular economy
We close the loop by using water of drinkable quality for technical snowmaking and returning it to nature naturally in spring as the snow melts. This outstanding example of sustainable circular economy is implemented with the help of state-of-the-art snow depth measurement in snow groomers, which enables efficient snow management and thus reduces our resource consumption of electricity, water and fuel.
Interesting insights in connection with ski tourism and technical snowmaking
The ski tourism researcher provides exciting insights into the topic of water Günther Aigner. He clarifies questions such as:
Do we need to save water in the Alps?
Is it true that water is becoming scarce in the Alps and that technical snowmaking is leading to water shortages?
How much water does technical snowmaking actually use?
Here are the exciting videos to watch:
Ski tourism & technical snowmaking I: Lack of water?
Ski tourism & technical snowmaking II: Water requirement?
Ski tourism & technical snowmaking III: Save water
The most important findings of this research at a glance:
- With the precipitation of a single year in Waidring (Tyrol), the Steinplatte ski area (connected to Reit im Winkl / Bavaria) could be covered with snow for 573 years.
- The quantities of water used for technical snowmaking are negligible compared to the natural water cycle in the Alps. You will find two fascinating case studies in the video.
- The water is not lost, but returns completely to the water cycle after the snow melts - including the water that evaporates and thus contributes to increasing the humidity in the atmosphere.
